The Meeting of the Lord in the Temple

On February 2 at 6:30 we will celebrate festal Great Vespers for the feast of the Meeting of the Lord in the Temple. The next morning, February 3, at 9:30 we will serve the Divine Liturgy for the feast. The account of the meeting of the Lord in the temple is told in Luke 2:22-40. Jesus is brought by his earthly parents, Joseph and Mary, to the temple to be offered to God as was the custom. The righteous elder, Simeon, seeing the infant Jesus declares in prayer that he may now depart this life in peace, having seen the Messiah, and prophesies that this child is “destined for the fall and rising of many peoples.”  We will reflect on these things and many others in these services; in hymns and prayers, uniting ourselves to Christ.

Bake Sale

Mark you calendars! Saturday, November 1tth, from 9:00-4:00 we will host our semiannual bake sale. We will be offering a variety of sweet and savory homemade baked goods and hot drinks for sale as well as free hot dogs and games and crafts for children. Fr. John will also be available to answer questions about the Orthodox Church or give a church tour. Come by, say hello, and get something good to share with a friend. See you soon!
